The participants of the Igat Hope National HIV Treatments Workshop held in March 2010 declared they would work together to bring about urgent changes in the way HIV treatments are provided and PLHIV on ART are monitored and supported in PNG. Participants included PLHIV, community workers, policymakers, development partners, doctors, nurses and other healthcare providers. It was supported by a team of people from the National Association of People with HIV Australia (NAPWHA).

Papua New Guineans living with HIV may die if critical anti-retroviral drugs used to treat the virus are not restocked soon, a member of the local HIV advocacy body has warned.
